Dental Visit Frequency
Is it something you have been putting off? Do you really need to make an appointment if your teeth feel fine? A dental visit may often get pushed aside because it is not a priority. However, visiting your dentist consistently is important. How consistent should you be?
Prevention
Let’s first learn why frequent dental visits are so important. The greatest reason to keep your dental visits consistent is because the dentist can catch early warning signs of tooth decay, fractures, gum disease, oral cancer, and other problems. When you prevent serious dental issues, you save both time and money!
Further, at home you are not able to clean your teeth in the same way that a professional can. A big issue that people face is gum disease because the calculus that they cannot clear away by themselves, builds up. This is a breeding ground for bacteria in the gums. When a dental professional removes this, your gums have a fresh start.
Frequency
The average person should visit their dentist every 6 months or twice per year. In the case of a patient who needs a deep cleaning, they are encouraged to get a cleaning every 3 to 4 months in addition to their 6 month check-up.
